2026 Wed Society Northern Virginia Wedding of the Year
We are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 2026 Wed Society Northern Virginia Wedding of the Year! Kaitlynn and Michael’s fan-favorite celebration competed against three standout weddings on Instagram Stories and ultimately captured hearts with its unforgettable details and the showstopping talent of our incredible local vendors.
Inspired by the romance of 90s and 2000s rom-coms and the timeless elegance of Pride and Prejudice, Kaitlynn and Michael’s wedding at Great Marsh Estate was intimate by design. They kept the guest list to close family and friends so they could spend meaningful, unhurried time with the people who shaped them. That intention carried through the entire day. Kaitlynn’s grandfather officiated the ceremony, a close friend choreographed their first dance and taught them in weekly lessons, and because the wedding fell on Mother’s Day, Kaitlynn honored both moms with replicas of her bouquet. She also practiced her Spanish so she could personally thank her new mother-in-law for raising the man she married.
Kaitlynn’s look was pure 90s high fashion: a tailored strapless gown from Zoya’s Atelier with an oversized bow cascading down the skirt, a low back and sheer white opera gloves. Unveiled Artistry gave her a soft, romantic updo and neutral makeup with rosy accents. A later ceremony time meant the morning was relaxed and unrushed, with plenty of time for laughing and singing with her bridesmaids.
At the reception, Purple Onion Catering Co made guests feel right at home, serving dinner plated with blue florals to match the couple’s palette and pouring signature Hemingway Daiquiris and Crown Old Fashioneds. During dinner, guests heard a playlist made up of the first dance songs of every married couple in attendance. The dance floor then filled with a mix of English and Spanish music celebrating Kaitlynn’s American roots and Michael’s Bolivian heritage.
“It was so much fun seeing guests recognize the music playing and getting a moment to recreate their own special day,” Kaitlynn shared. “The day just felt so full of love and happiness.”
Up next, this winning Northern Virginia wedding will move on to be considered for Wed Society’s National Wedding of the Year 2026. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted, to Kaitlynn and Michael, and to the dream team of creatives who brought this unforgettable wedding vision to life!
