Vows that Wow | Gabrielle & James
Welcome to the May edition of Vows That Wow! Each month, our Wed Society Editorial Team has the privilege of reviewing gorgeous weddings from across the Northern Virginia region. We celebrate weddings that beautifully spotlight a couple’s unique love story, their distinct personalities, and the incredible wedding vendors who bring it all to life. Out of so many stunning submissions, we select just one standout wedding that truly exemplifies thoughtful design and breathtaking detail.
This month, we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Gabrielle and James! Their unforgettable day was filled with a vibrant palette of pastel florals, an undeniable love that radiated through the room, and an energy that kept the dance floor packed all night long.
The Ceremony
A sunny spring day set the scene for Gabrielle and James’ wedding celebration. Their outdoor ceremony centered around a flower-filled chuppah overflowing with pastel garden roses, dahlias, and snapdragons. Before finding their seats, guests were welcomed with yarmulkes featuring a custom illustration of the couple’s wedding venue, River Farm.
The ceremony was made even more special as both Gabrielle and James were walked down the aisle by both of their parents. Following the heartfelt ceremony, James concluded the celebration by breaking the glass — a timeless Jewish wedding tradition.

After I Do
Creating an unforgettable guest experience was one of Gabby and James’ biggest priorities while planning their wedding day. They wanted the celebration to feel lively, welcoming, and centered around incredible food and nonstop dancing. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a variety of offerings including a Middle Eastern Mediterranean fusion station, a mezze grazing display, sushi, and cocktails served from a charming mobile cocktail car. A cozy lounge area and a beautifully designed flower bar seating chart added thoughtful touches throughout the space.
Once the reception began, Gabrielle and James wasted no time getting everyone onto the dance floor. In a timeline that felt perfectly true to their families and traditions, guests danced the horah, paused briefly for salads, and then headed right back to celebrating before dinner was served. The energy carried throughout the entire evening — especially once Gabby changed into a fun metallic second dress that was made for dancing the night away.
Vendors We Loved
Gabrielle and James had a beautiful three-tiered wedding cake crafted by Frost and Flourish. This whimsical cake was created with a delicate deckled edge buttercream and topped with flowers that were echo’d throughout the entire wedding day. Besides being stunning to look at, it was also entirely dairy free. Guests were able to enjoy two different flavor profiles: chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache and raspberry jam, and vanilla cake with vanilla bean pastry cream and fresh strawberries.
