Abie and Travis’s wedding day at Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria was a day full of color, personality, and the people they love most! Their vision for their wedding day, which they described as “all the colors with an accent of a disco ball”, perfectly captured the playful and modern feel they imagined.
One of their favorite moments happened before the wedding ceremony. They couldn’t decide who would exchange their personal vows first, so they settled the question with a game of rock, paper, scissors. The small moment was a silly start to their love-filled day.
Wedding Ceremony Traditions with A Twist
Honoring Abie’s Jewish heritage was an important part of the celebration. The couple put their own spin on the tradition of breaking the glass. Rather than only Travis breaking it, they decided to both participate — created an “equal opportunity” version of the tradition that reflected their partnership and shared commitment.

After the wedding ceremony, guests explored the artist studios, enjoyed the views, and watched the World Cup before gathering for the reception filled with vibrant colors, blue linens, lights, and disco balls. With loved ones traveling from across the country, some overcoming significant health challenges to attend, having everyone together was ultimately what made the day so special. Heartfelt toasts, a packed dance floor, and late-night soft pretzels, churros, and a keg of Optimal Wit from Port City kept the celebration going well into the evening.
