Vows that Wow | Mary & Alex
Every corner of Mary and Alex’s wedding told a story. With hand-illustrated menus featuring their dog and venue alongside playful tributes to their favorite show, the day felt deeply personal and perfectly “them.”
The Moments That Matter Most
So much time goes into wedding planning, but the wedding day goes by in a blink of an eye! To soak in every moment, Mary and Alex made sure to slow things down and be fully present by focusing on each other, their favorite people, and the joy of the moment.
Their favorite memories of their wedding day were their first look and private vows. Just the two of them together, enjoying the quiet moments before the festivities began. This gave them time to soak in everything that was happening and everything that was to come – all without nerves or the pressure of everyone watching.
Refined & Timeless, But Never Overly Formal
Alex and Mary wanted their day to feel elevated, but welcoming – an experience that reflected their style and personality. Some of these details included paper goods and signage created by The Simple Script, which were classic at first glance but with a playful spirit. Rather than traditional wording, they chose something simpler and more joyful like their RSVP card reading “so you in?” and their welcome sign that read “Yay! You’re here!”.
With Alex traveling often for work, his tradition is leaving Mary sticky note love letters around the house. On their wedding day, Alex continued the tradition by filling Mary’s mirror with them, each a small reminder of their life, relationship, and love story.
Among the notes was a recreation of the Grey’s Anatomy Post-It note vows, Mary’s favorite show! Just like the show, he signed it and left a space for Mary to sign as well.
From processional to private last dance, each song was deeply personal to them. The processional song was an instrumental version of “Chasing Cars”, a pillar song in Grey’s Anatomy, which made the moment even more sentimental and connected to something meaningful to them. Their first dance was the first song that Mary sent Alex, and they ended the night with the first song that Alex sent to Mary – truly a full-circle moment.
An incredible and essential part of their wedding day was their photographer, The Reeses. The duo kept everything running smoothly and made Mary and Alex’s wedding day feel effortless. They were able to capture the big moments and small, quiet moments beautifully, but also anticipated their needs before the couple had to ask. Mary and Alex said the Reeses went above and beyond to make them feel like they were able to stay present and enjoy the day to the fullest.
