A Classic Capitol Hill Wedding With a New Orleans Twist

DC takes its traditions seriously, and on May 24, Courtney and Jake honored them, then led everyone down the street with a little bit of New Orleans. The couple met in law school here in Northern Virginia and now call DC home, and their wedding was a love letter to that city: intimate, intentional, and unapologetically fun.

Vows were exchanged beneath the vaulted arches of a historic Capitol Hill church, Courtney in sleek satin and a cathedral-length lace veil, Jake in classic black tie. Count in Threes Photo then took the couple to the marble steps and carved stone facades of Capitol Hill for portraits that feel polished and editorial without ever looking posed: the veil caught mid-air, a shared laugh, a quiet kiss framed through window panes.

After cocktails and dinner at one of the neighborhood’s most celebrated restaurants, the couple skipped the shuttle and led their guests a few doors down, second line style, to the dance floor. Speakers overhead, everyone dancing in the street, it was a moment no one will forget.

Classic where it counted, playful everywhere else, Courtney and Jake’s wedding is proof that the best celebrations look exactly like the couple throwing them.
