Erica & Nick: Cambodian-American Wedding in Leesburg, Virginia
Erica and Nick’s Virginia wedding weekend was a two-day celebration to honor both Cambodian and American cultures. The traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony took place at Erica’s family home, where family and friends gathered for beautiful traditions including Buddhist monk blessings, symbolic haircutting ceremony, and the traditional knot-tying ritual where loved ones tied blessed red strings around the couple’s wrists to wish them lasting love, protection, and good fortune. The following day, they celebrated their American wedding ceremony in Leesburg, Virginia. This celebration blended modern elegance with chinoiserie-inspired design of the venue using blue hues, beautiful florals, and love-filled details throughout their day.
From the garden ceremony to the reception, every part of Erica and Nick’s day represented their love and people who shaped them into who they are today. Nick’s sister hand-stitched the couples initials into Erica’s veil, and Nick’s father build their ceremony pillars. Instead of a classic guest book, the couple opted for playing cards (a staple in their house!). During cocktail hour, the couple made a wedding-themed “Sip & Search” for guests to participate in. As a nod to their engagement in Italy, they opted to have a tiramisu instead of a traditional wedding cake.
Looking back on their wedding day, their advice for couples planning their own wedding: prepare as much as possible, invest time in finding the right vendors for you, pay attention to the details that matter most and embrace the unexpected. By focusing on each other and making space to enjoy the celebration, Erica and Nick created not only a beautiful wedding, but one filled with memories that will last forever.
